This Spanish-style home was built in 1927 and the home of Jacob Mendlovitz, owner of the historic Mendlovitz Department Store from 1923-1932 which stood in the downtown Schmidt Building. The home has seen different modifications over the years, one of which was the hand-dug basement from the 1960's, a feature rarely found in Texas homes.
